For no reason my SSH shut down &/or stop responding yesterday, but restarting SSH daemon (the entire server via web gui) took care of it.
I was using an older release of SSH, and knowing a newer version was available, upgraded as soon as the server came back up. Is there some sort of exploit or vulnerability with older versions of SSH? I was using the version prior to the version currently available on pkg.nl.cobalt.com. I have obviously forgot the old version number. But I am still looking for a reason as to why the service stopped responding, and closed the port. No work had been done to the server within that would or could have effected SSH daemon. I have yet to see many services on *nix machines stop without a good reason. Anyone have any info on this, or similar experiences?
