The reason the [EMAIL PROTECTED] doesn't work is because you have to set up an MX record in your dns that would point www.domain.com to the proper server.
And you are right that this is a very poor design because nobody wants to have to do that. The welcome e-mail should send out according to what you set the list domain as. Right now the welcome e-mail sounds out all the info with host.domain.com (ex: [EMAIL PROTECTED]) which is pretty lame considering you just want [EMAIL PROTECTED] Travis ---- Original Message ---- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 2001-12-02 12:46:41.0 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [cobalt-developers] Mailing list must have feature On Sun, 2 Dec 2001, Jeff Lasman wrote: > [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > > Not all standard majordomo commands work on the RaQ, and cobalt never > > documented that > > I presume you mean the archives and digests? Yes, and put and get? BTW if you use [EMAIL PROTECTED] instead of the dim-bulb [EMAIL PROTECTED], in some instances the reply-to doesn't work as expected. I gave a very good friend of mine access to my server....he's adept enough at mailing lists that he could be called a "wizkid" or guru. His estimation of the Cobalt Way with majordomo was "ugly, nasty". When asked what he would charge to "fix it", he begged off, in the interest of friendship...and thanked my profusely for giving him root access...as his tour of the server was enough to convince him NOT to buy a RaQ. It's beyond comprehension that Sun can allow this stupidity to continue.....kind of like having a huge festering boil in the middle of your forehead....and refusing to go to the doctor before trying to get a date. Oh, I think you can change the address, but then majordomo is more broke(and less good) that before. I can't believe that the folks who designed the Cobalt GUI had much practical experience with web hosting as practiced in the real world.
