While the RaQ3 sendmail version (presuming you're up-to-date on all revisions) is reasonably up-to-date (or at least was the last time I looked at it), your consultant may not be sufficiently knowledgeable to work on the "cf" and other files directly without affecting the gui functionality. The version of sendmail run by Cobalt in the RaQ3 is certainly reasonably easy to keep up-to-date (again, or at least was the last time I looked). The gui does NOT change the .cf file, so your consultant can make changes to it. As long as s/he doesn't break any of the "rulesets" it uses, s/he can even add additional rulesets. The other files used by sendmail are fairly resilient when it comes to changes... if you're going to make additions to the virtusertable file you need to add them at the end of the file, where the internal documentation indicates. Rather than add anything to aliases, we create a new aliases.local, which requires a simple change to sendmail.cf. There are some good sendmail consultants who ARE RaQ-knolwedgeable.
