Are you sure you're restoring ONTO a RaQ 4r with 2 working drives? The behavior you describe is what happens if you try to restore RaQ4r onto a RaQ4i. The installer breaks as it can't set up the RAID properly (since there's only one disk). If you do in fact have a 4r, I'd double check the power and IDE connectors for both hard drives to ensure they are both working properly.
