Hi Guys, I have a Qube3 which is on a LAN with a separate internet gateway. Currently if the gateway goes down I get a message indicating that the gateway is not reachable.
What I'd like to do is add a capability to monitor the external address of the gateway as well as (or instead of) the internal address. Why? I have some clients who would like to use and Apple AirPort Base Station as their internet gateway. Due to their location, the intention is to use the builtin modem. All is well except that although the Apple AirPort Base Station can be set to never disconnect, it will not reconnect if there is a dropout ... it will reconnect only when it "needs" to. Since my clients have static IP addresses for their modem connections all that is needed is some traffic to the "external" address to initiate a reconnection. A simple solution would be to have a cron job ping the address. This would work, but I'd like the Active Monitor to advise me when the connection went down and when it was re-established. It would be really nice to have a GUI screen to enter the IP address to be monitored. Has anyone done this before? Can I simply replicate the code which monitors the existing gateway address and modify it to monitor the external address?
