No, but good question. The patch that is compiled into Apache is specific for the version of the extensions used. Therefore there was a patch for FP 3 (aka FP 98), a different patch for FP 4 (aka 2000) and now another one for 5 (aka fp 2002 or xp). > > What exactly does the Apache patch do? It also allows the FP extensions to execute as a specific user. I have compiled it staticly into apache, but it is possible to compile it as a DSO I believe. You would have to recompile apache and some of it's supporting modules to make it work. When you install fp extensions, many files will have to be copied over and the permissions will need to change. Because of this, the UI can not be used to install the extensions.
