Andres, I have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS!!! and really no support from Cobalt! I feel like a cobalt crash test dummy. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy more raq4i systems. I must admit that I have gotten most of the problems resolved but it was not as easy as it should have been. For simple hosting, the Raq550 is ok - NOT GREAT. If you are going to use custom programs, well, their is were the problems start. I want to upgrade from a Raq4 to Raq550. When I transferred my sites from this raq4 to the raq550, it seemed to move over ok but I had (and still have) problems.
Problems that are now fixed: - I can now password protect directories. - Clients can now send/receive e-mail - Clients can publish with Frontpage but not live publish. Problems that I AM STILL HAVING: - My Frontpage users can no longer use the live editing with frontpage. That is, opening the url and editing instead of publishing after updating on the PC. They can only publish now. This "Live Editing" feature was great for several people to make changes to the same site. - Runnig CGI programs only seems to work in the base domain. The users (Domainname.com/~usersname/) cannot run CGI Programs unless they keep the file name to 4 characters or less. No one has been able to tell me how to extend the number of characters in the URL for CGI to work. This seems to be a global system setting. - In order to fix Frontpage problems, I have done everything that normally fixes them and I still end up having to delete the domain completly and recreate the users and everything - THIS REALLY SUCKS! - The BlueLinQ feature does not seem to work and I am still trying to figure out why they put that feature in the GUI. Great idea if it works. - They also have an "Automatic DNS" feature that creates an A-Record but you have to delete it in order to create records without the www in front of the domain name. I am also trying to figure out how to change this so that it creates the proper records. - There are few more quirks that I do not want to waste your time on. My advice IS TO WAIT until you hear no more complaints. When I publish my requess for help, I seem to get answers from people who do not use the Raq550. I have received MANY "I have Problems Too" e-mails off list. There are many of us that feel like a Cobalt Crash Test dummy. You can learn alot from a dummy! As I fix problems, I have been posting the solutions. These solutions come from many other Crash Test Dummies who are just as frustrated with the Raq550 as I am. A few others feel that it is Sun's place to give help and solutions - which they are not doing. Well, not for free. Again, only take advice from those who are ACTUALLY using the Raq550 the way you want to use it.
