That can still take a while. But there are some posts in this news group 
telling what I have done. On one aspect it's more work than normal, but 
I had to find out by trail and error. The biggest problem is the pl 
scripts for the configuration. I'm still figuring out how to remove 
certain lines in my server.xml upon removal of a webapp.

Normally in the server.xml you have context like
<Context path="some pad" docBase="some docbase"/>
now I have
<Context path="some path docBase="some docbase" appBase="same as docBase">
   <Logger (all directives for the logger)/>
</Context>
When I remove the webapp only the first line of the context is removed 
instead of all the lines. I will look into it today. When I have 
finished this last one I continue writing my HowTo.  I shall place it on 
my site
