I'm having a problem with checking mail for a new virtual site and a new user. Looked at the settings on the server and in the email client but everything is correct there, as it is always done.
This user just POPs into his mailbox to retrieve email, he uses his ISP's SMTP server to send mail. In his email client (Outlook Express 6) he gets the following error: There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.sitename.be', Server: 'mail.sitename.be', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [SYS/TEMP] Failed to create /home/.sites/39/site71/.users/86/username/.username.pop with uid 684, gid 12. Change permissions.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 Things I noticed: - There was a problem logging onto your mail server. *** checked the mail server in the Cobalt GUI, on the namesever and in OE several times - Your Password was rejected. *** Changed the password, did not help. - Server Response: '-ERR [SYS/TEMP] Failed to create /home/.sites/39/site71/.users/86/username/.username.pop with uid 684, gid 12. Change permissions.' *** I FTP'd to the server and had a look. In the user directory /.users/86/username drwxrws--x 3 684 571 99 Apr 9 10:45 username I see the following files: -rw-r--r-- 1 684 571 19456 Apr 7 17:31 Gegevens Bosen.doc drwxr-sr-x 7 684 571 4096 Apr 9 10:26 Lang tat -rw-r--r-- 1 684 571 24064 Apr 7 17:31 Verkoop.xls -rw------- 1 684 571 3708 Apr 13 15:57 mbox So, apperently the user did some stuff there he was not really supposed to but AFAICT he did not mess up the permissions.
