Hey Gang! <disclaimer>I have no connection with SecurityFocus.com, or any of its affiliates</disclaimer> This is information I think **might** be useful to my colleagues and esteemed friends in the Cobalt community >From Slashdot this morning: http://aris.securityfocus.com/ What is it? (Exerpted from http://aris.securityfocus.com/AboutAris.asp) ARIS analyzer is a service designed, administered and maintained by SecurityFocus.com to allow participating network administrators to submit suspicious network traffic and intrusion attempts anonymously, for detailed analysis and tracking. Our aim is to help our participants track incidents and find patterns in attacks that will serve as a threat gauging system for the Internet community. Description: (Also exerpted from http://aris.securityfocus.com/AboutAris.asp) SecurityFocus.com is inviting you, a member of the Internet community, to become an ARIS analyzer participant. Participants receive a copy of ARIS extractor, our Intrusion Detection System log-parsing tool, and access to a secure, personalized, web-based Incident Console. The incident console is comprised of several time saving utilities that enable you to track your incidents, create personal incident reports, and generate attacker notification messages through our easy-to-use Incident Wizard, a notification engine. SecurityFocus.com recognizes the need for discretion when dealing with potentially sensitive security incidents. When establishing an ARIS analyzer user account, no personal, or identifying information is required. Instead we ask for demographic information that can be used to detect geographic or industry patterns and other details that will be used to benefit all ARIS users network security. We want to enable you to take advantage of what the incident information has to reveal, rather than cause you and your company embarrassment and further break-ins or attempts. <snip> I hope this helps *someone* within this community. Now if they'd only quite using a M$ server/asp and go to the real_stuff/php we'd be *really* happy :-) Regards, -Colin -- Colin J.
