Currently is doesn't check for whether or not a package says so. It has a REBOOT variable that, it set to 'yes', reboots the machine after new updates (regardles of whether it really had to). I may look into tuning this, though, if there is demand for it :) It would be a shame to ruin a good uptime for no reason..
