I believe I followed all the directions....lots less spam....did the change suggested and my mailing lists work....but POP before SMTP not working
Thanks to all for the pointers, suggestions and even sendmail.cf files.
I finally narrowed it down to not being able to connect via one of the several dialup accounts I use....and so dutifully checked to see if that ISP and/or his IP numbers were blacklists.
Puzzles of Puzzles.....they are clean! Then it dawned on me that with that
ISP, who doesn't offer any email, I dialed into them and then sent to my server.
As I test, I snooped around and discovered his mailserver....and even though they don't offer email accounts, I was able to log into it.
So....I set up a dummy personality on Eudora....it logs into their server, sees me
as a user, and then passes my mail to the server via them.
But....the real puzzle I have is how come I never had to do this with the original
sendmail.cf? Apparently what's created by the nuonce HowTo adds some rules
that reject mail from the one ISP.
I've tried telling the system via the GUI to relay from the ISPs range of IP addresses,
and that doesn't work.
Apparently sendmail "catches" me via an ARG1 in the ruleset.
So, can anyone shed some light one how to work around the situation? I have NOT mentioned
the ISP and/or the IP range on the list. If someone can help me and needs that, I'll email them
direct.
Thanks in advance.
