Go to you GUI
Select Network Services -->
Select DNS --->
Select Edit Primary Services --->
--Use the Add Record drop down menu --
Select Forward Address ( A ) Record
Add the domain and IP address ( do not use the host name yet )
Save
Select Reverse Address ( PTR ) Record
Add the IP address, Subnet, Host Name, Domain Name and
click the Generate Forward Address ( A ) Record
Save
If you want to get email to this domain
Select Mail Server ( MX ) Records
Add the Domain Name and the Mail Server Name
Select What Delivery Priority
Save
Once done this you may want to edit Modify SOA with your DNS server
information......
Now just "Apply Changes Now" button and you are done creating a Primary
DNS record
I also add the following ( A ) Records:
ftp.domain.tld
mail.domain.tld where "mail" is what I use for the "Mail Server Name" field;
nothing in the "Host Name (optional)" filed.
... so you end up with 6 records for a vsite on the 550
Manny
Since I use slaves for my sites I just use the domain.tld as the MX
records so I dont create the mail.domain.tld
