I have found the thread which might be answering this: http://www.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/securityfocus/Secure_Shell/2004-05/00 24.html It says I should have /etc/ttys on the system, which doesn't appear to be there. How can I find what should be in the file? Or am I in a wrong direction?
