Friends,

We use a Qube 3 for our school's web page. I would like to password
protect a folder and its subsidiary folders. Basically, we have
email addresses of our alumni in folders by their year of
graduation. If you are looking for a classmate's email address, you
would be directed to the "alumni" page to enter a password (no
username). I don't want users to be able to circumvent the password
on the main page by typing directly the address of a class page (eg
webroot/alum/2002).

I am told there would be a way to do this through the .htaccess file,
but don't know how.

Any help would be appreciated.

.htaccess is absolutely the way to go.

There are many good tutorials already online that you should google
for. That will be faster than somebody retyping it here.

Or you may find its best to pay a developer to get it done for you.
