SQLite would be a nice option when working with small numbers of hosts and yes 
less administrative support.  One could even run cobbler with SQLite on a home 
router running a DDWRT flavor.  But what problem would using a file based DB 
solve, that isn’t solvable with local files and a defined directory structure?  

Additionally, I think backend DB support was removed in git commit ‘bee7a4e’.  
Maybe check the git branch you are working with?
