Either for 1.4 or later, here is a patch for add_entry to create
rescue profiles for debian/ubuntu

Notice that the line with 'self.api.serialize()' is duplicated, but as
I've done a mesh with
github while trying to solve a previous mistake, I've preferred not to
correct this one.

Regarding (A), I perfectly understand your points. And in any case,
you are the lead here.
But as you remember, include debian import was closer to a pain than
to a pleasure, and
the same will probably repeat for suse or any other new distro, unless
some reorganization
is done at some time.
