Setting Hostname via network_config snippet

I've found this in /var/lib/cobbler/snippets/network_config:

                #if $hostname != ""
                    #set $network_str = $network_str + " --hostname=" +
$hostname

How and where should I define $hostname in the web interface or CLI?
