I have not heard or personally seen anything like this. My first guess
would be that the kernel options for cobbler and the DVD are different
enough to cause this behavior.
I would suggest gathering the output of `cat /proc/cmdline` on the VMs
during the following points:
1. During the installation while using PXE
2. During the installation while using DVD
3. After the installation (post-reboot) while using PXE
4. After the installation (post-reboot) while using DVD
There may be an obvious difference.
