I am only using cobbler to manage DHCP, as I am using PowerDNS with a MySQL backend and haven't found time to investigate cobbler/PowerDNS integration. As for running cobbler sync, I use both the CLI cobbler sync and the sync "button" that is available via the webUI. In this case I believe I used the webUI to do the sync, after having found an error with the dhcp configure for the target subnet. I did not however run it after adding the new system.
