This is very odd. My only guess is that's it's a F16 issue. I use this trick on every machine in the log_ks_pre snippet. It's worked on every RHEL/CentOS machine I've built - releases 4-6.

It looks, like it is not possible to start a background job in the %pre section of a kickstart file and maybe also in the %post section. (When i use terminal access via ALT F2 it is possible to start background jobs via shell while the system is installed!!!) So, maybe this is not a cobbler problem and i am wrong here with my problem.
