templating currently "reads" as "Source" = "Target" instead of the more
logical "Target" = "Source"

3+5=x instead of x=3+5
I don't know what you mean. Templated scripts/automatic installation
files use Cheetah
templating and Linux shell script languages, both use traditional
assignment syntax.
Example (autoinstall_snippets/post_install_network_config_deb)
#set $configbymac = True
