Adams  County: 
--3 Barrow’s Goldeneye (1m.;  2fm) were reported by Trinkner at 88th and the 
Platte River on  January 11. 
--A male Barrow’s Goldeneye was  reported by Sanders at Barr Lake at the 
northeast end of the open water on  January 10. 
Boulder  County: 
--4 female White-winged Scoters  were reported by Blatchley at Valmont 
Reservoir on January  10. 
--All three species of Rosy  Finches were reported by Schmoker at the 
Fawnbrook Inn in Allenspark on January  11. 
Delta  County: 
--A juv. Tundra Swan was  reported by Beason at Confluence Park on January  
11. 
--All 3 species of Rosy-Finches  were reported by Beason in Hidden Valley 
which is SE of Paonia on  January 7. 
--8 Tundra Swans were reported  by Garrison in Hotchkiss on January 7.  They 
were last seen flying towards Delta.  Arnold relocated the swans on the north  
fork of the Gunnison near J Road east of Bollinger & Queen  in 
Hotchkiss on January  8. 
--A pair of Barrow's Goldeneyes  was reported by Garrison at Confluence Park 
in Delta on January  8. 
Denver  County: 
--A MEW GULL was reported by  Tina Jones at Marston Reservoir on January 9. 
Douglas/Jefferson  Counties: 
--Kellner reported that a  Dunlin was found at Chatfield on the Denver CBC on 
December 20.  The Dunlin was reported by Deininger  in the middle of the 
river next to a log between  E-470 and the foot bridge on January 10. 
El Paso  County: 
-- The following gulls were  reported by Percival at the Midway Landfill on 
January 10 (am):  GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL (1st  yr); ICELAND GULL (1st yr); 
Lesser-black Backed Gull; and Thayer’s  Gull. 
--An American Three-toed  Woodpecker was reported by Luck at North Cheyenne 
Mountain Park, off the High  Drive road.  Drive up North Cheyenne  Canyon and 
park at the end of the plowed road.  There is a sign pointing toward High  
Drive.  Walk up the road about .6  miles.  The spot was marked with a  rock 
cairn 
on the right side of the road.  The bird was on the  two dead  trees toward 
the east, a few yards off the trail. 
Garfield  County: 
--77 Barrow's Goldeneyes were  reported by Filby at Coryell Ranch Ponds in 
Carbondale on January 4.  They were scoped from the frontage road  by Hwy 82.  
Only 1 Barrow’s  Goldeneye was seen by Filby at Corell Ranch on January  9. 
Gunnison  County: 
--Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches are  once again visiting the feeders of Linda 
Powers in Crested Butte as of  January 7.  You can view the feeders  from 
your vehicle.  The address is  324 Whiterock.  The flock sits in  the 
Cottonwood 
Trees which surround the house. 
Larimer  County: 
--A Common Redpoll was reported  at the feeders of Emily Thurston-Moench on 
January 10.  The bird was not seen on January  11.   
Mesa  County: 
--A White-winged Dove was  reported by Filby in Grand Junction south of Grand 
Ave on White Ave between N  8th and N 9th on January 6. 
--A Common Redpoll and PURPLE  FINCH are intermittently visiting feeders of 
Garnett and Raymond Plotner in  Fruita.  Garnett reported that the  PURPLE 
FINCH was seen on January  7.  The Plotners are  currently happy to welcome 
birders to look for the birds.  To avoid disturbing the birds, they ask  that 
you 
preferably watch their feeders from inside your vehicle.  Cooper reports seeing 
the Common Redpoll  on January 11. 
Montrose  County: 
--YELLOW BELLIED SAPSUCKERS  were reported by Dexter at Nucla Town Park on 
10th and Main on January 8.  They were using the yard to the west  with Willow 
and Apple Trees.  They  were eating apples. 
Pitkin  County: 
--Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches  were reported by Filby at Snowmass at Sam's Knob 
on January  7. 
Pueblo  County: 
--The following birds were  reported by Percival at the Pueblo Reservoir 
South Shore Marina tires on January  9:  2 Glaucous Gulls (1 first year  and 1 
second year); An adult Thayer’s Gull (also seen on Jan 11); An adult GREAT  
BLACK-BACKED GULL (also seen on Jan 11); 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls (2 adult/2 
 
first year, also seen on Jan 11); and a first year ICELAND GULL (note, the bird 
 
was seen in the afternoon and it is likely  the same bird seen in the AM at 
Pueblo  City Park). 
--An imm ICELAND GULL was  reported by Schmoker at Pueblo City Park on 
January 3.   Ackley reported the 1st-cycle  ICELAND GULL at Pueblo City Park on 
January 8, and Percival reported it on  January 9 and on Jan 11 (in the AM).  
Percival also reported a dark juvenile Thayer’s Gull at Pueblo City Park  on 
Jan 
9. 
--An Adult MEW GULL was  reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on the 
south east part of the lake on  January 9.   
--3-4 Long-tailed Ducks  (including 1 adult male) were reported by Percival 
at Pueblo Reservoir on the  south east side (near a goldeneye flock) on January 
9 and were seen again on Jan  11. 
--A female Surf Scoter was  reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir in the 
south east corner on January 9  and was seen again on Jan 11). 
--Lapland Longspurs were  reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir (flying 
over the south east side of the  Res.) on January 9. 
--A Black Phoebe was reported  by Percival at the Rock Canyon, below Pueblo 
Reservoir Dam on January 9 and was  seen again on Jan11. 
--8 White-winged Doves were  reported by Percival at the Sunset Park 
subdivision on January 9 and were seen  again on Jan 11. 
The DFO field trip for  Saturday, January 17 will be to 88th and the Platte 
River led by Buzz  Schaumberg (303-699-1721).  Meet at  0830 at parking lot at 
88th and the Platte for ½ day trip.  Always ducks galore – possibly  
Long-tailed Duck and Barrow’s Goldeneye. 
The DFO field trip for Sunday,  January 18 will be to Bear Creek Lake Park 
and will be led by Mike Henwood  (303-716-8551).  Meet at 0800 at  Park 
Entrance 
(SE corner of Morrison Road & C470).  Call leader to arrange for free park’s  
pass; ½ day trip.
