Bent County: --A female EASTERN TOWHEE was reported by Van Truan at the Wood Thrush Grove at Roads JJ & 16, east of Fort Lyon on January 21. --A White-winged Dove was reported by Leukering along JJ Road near Fort Lyon on January 24. Boulder County: --An adult Glaucous Gull was reported by Floyd at Prince Lake No 2 on January 23. --Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches were reported by Kaempfer at Fawnbrook Inn in Allenspark on January 24. --3 female type White-winged Scoters were reported by Nunes at Baseline Reservoir in Boulder on January 24. Delta County: --McConnell refound the juvenile Tundra Swan at Confluence Park in Delta on January 24. It was on the Gunnison River east of the Hwy 50 bridge. Douglas/Jefferson/Arapahoe Counties: --Kellner reported that a Dunlin was found at Chatfield on the Denver CBC on December 20. The Dunlin was last reported in Arapahoe County in the middle of the river next to a log between E-470 and the foot bridge on January 19. Huerfano County: --An adult Tundra Swan and juvenile swan were reported by Moss at Lake Trinidad on January 24. --4 swans were reported by Moss on Lake Maria (private) but viewable from road east of Trinidad on January 24. --2 Rusty Blackbirds (1m, 1f) were reported by Leukering on the sw corner of Horseshoe Lake in Lathrop SP on January 24. Logan/Morgan Counties: --A Snow Bunting and several Lapland Longspurs were reported by Wild on Logan CR 61 on January 21. Further on the same road, but in Morgan County and Called CR GG, Wild reported a large flock of Lapland Longspurs and 1 Snow Bunting. This second spot is approximately 100 yards east from where CR GG meets up with Hwy 71. Mesa County: --A White-throated Sparrow was reported by Cooper at Corn Lake State Park on January 23. If you enter the park by vehicle, drive along the north shore of the lake until you reach the final parking lot. There, a (muddy) earthen path intersects a paved one at the west edge of the lake. The sparrow was right along the dirt path with some juncos. Morgan County: --A Bohemian Waxwing was reported by Wild at Jackson Lake State Park in the Russian Olives on the west side of the reservoir on January 21. --A Swamp Sparrow was reported by Wild at the marsh on the south side of the road on CR AA, west of Jackson Lake State Park on January 21. Prowers County: --A male Red-bellied Woodpecker was reported by Leatherman at the south end of Lamar Community College woods on January 13, and see again on January 21 by Truan. --A male Red-bellied Woodpecker was reported by Leukering in Willow Creek Park in Lamar on January 24. --At Lamar Community College Woods on January 24, Leukering report a singing male Northern Cardinal and a calling Red-bellied Woodpecker. Pueblo County: --An adult male White-winged Scoter was reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on January 22 and 23. --A female Surf Socter was reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on January 22. --2 Long-tailed Ducks were reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on January 22, and 4 were reported by Percival on January 23. --5 Barrow's Goldeneyes (3 m, 2 f) were reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on January 23. --2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls were reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on January 22 and one adult was reported by Percival on January 23. --An adult GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL was reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on January 22. --Lapland Longspurs (30+) were reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on January 22. The DFO field trip for Sunday, January 25 to Cherry Creek State Park led by Karen von Saltz (720-568-4652). Meet at 0800 at the marina. Bring scopes and dress for changeable weather. Half day trip so lunch is optional. The next monthly meeting of Denver Field Ornithologists will be on Monday, January 26 at Ricketson Auditorium in Denver Museum of Nature and Science at 7:30 pm.
