DFO Presentation Feb 23:  Museum of Nature & Sciences’ Ornithological Collection

One Hundred Years of (and counting) of the Denver Museum of Nature and
Sciences’s Ornithological Collection with Dr. John Demboski:  February 23
DENVER FIELD ORNITHOLOGISTS (DFO) Meeting

PRESENTATION:

Dr. John Demboski is the Curator of Vertebrate Zoology at the Denver Museum of
Nature and Science.  On February 23 at 7:30 PM at the Denver Museum of Nature
and Science, he will share with the Denver Field Ornithologists some of the
highlights from the over 100 year history of, and some of the keen samples
from, the ornithological collection of the Museum.  OPEN AND FREE TO ALL AND
SEE DETAILS BELOW!

His fantastic presentation of slides and actual samples will include:
•           a survey of some of the interesting and more scientifically
significant specimens/objects found in the collection;
•           a description of what is happening now with the collection
(touching on some of the curation issues, growth of the collection and some of
the related Museum projects with the collection);
•           the use of the collection by museum staff, museum members,
ornithologists (professionals and more casual ornithologists); and,
•           a vision and description of the future of the collection.
Besides this fascinating lecture and presentation, DFO members will have the
opportunity to examine up close a number of various specimens and objects from
the collection.  Many (if not most of these) will be those not often seen by
the public during their day-to-day visits to the Museum so this will be a
fantastic opportunity that you will not want to miss.
