Arapahoe County:
--A possible SLATY-BACKED GULL was reported by Schmoker at Cherry Creek
Reservoir on February 28.

Bent County:
--A LE CONTE'S SPARROW was reported by Nelson at the west end of John Martin
Reservoir on February 18.  One LE CONTE'S and 2 Swamp Sparrows were reported
by Riffe near the canal crossing on February 27.  The area is south of Rd JJ
and west of Rd 20.

Boulder County:
--All 3 species of Rosy-Finches were reported by Dunning at Fawnbrook Inn in
Allenspark on February 7.  Kaempfer reported all three species at Fawnbrook
Inn on February 28.
--An adult MEW GULL was reported by Guarente at Jim Hamm in Longmont on
February 18.  Floyd reported the MEW GULL at Jim Hamm on March 1.

Broomfield County:
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Petrizzo in Lac Amora Open Space in
Broomfield on February 28.
To see the dove, park at Josh's Pond and head east of the pond -- behind the
houses that abut the open space and look for the doves.  To get to Josh's
Pond, turn west on Miramonte Blvd from US 287, turn right onto N Oak Drive,
turn right on Rock Creek Drive and follow it to the end which is Josh's

[email protected] or at 719-488-9014.  The dove has been seen in late
mornings with Eurasian Collared-Doves.

Delta County:
--White-winged Crossbills were reported by Cooper at the Grand Mesa Visitor
Center on February 28.
--20 Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Cooper at Confluence Park on the
Gunnison River on February 28.

Gunnison County:
--Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches continue to visit the feeder of Linda Powers in
Crested Butte at least through March 3.  The address is 324 Whiterock.  You
can view the feeders from your vehicle.  The flock sits in the Cottonwood
Trees which surround the house.

Kiowa County:
--A Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Riffe at Abode Creek
Reservoir/Blue Lake on February 28.

Larimer County:
--A Scoter either White-winged or Surf was reported by Brauch at Fossil
Creek Reservoir on March 3.
--At Lake Loveland on March 3, Komar reported 2 adult Glaucous Gulls and 1
1st-cycle Thayer's Gull.
--An EURASIAN WIGEON was found by Wild at Swede Lake on March 4.  The
Wigeon was seen again on March 5 by Roller.  Swede Lake is the southeast
corner of Fossil Creek Reservoir.
--At Donath Lake, Komar found Glaucous Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, and
Thayer's Gull on March 4.

Mesa County:
--A Swamp Sparrow was reported by Cooper at Corn Lake State Park on February
28.

Otero County:
--A Glaucous Gull was reported by Riffe at Holbrook Reservoir on February
28.

Pueblo County:
--A Mute Swan was reported by Ackley at Runyon Lake in Pueblo on March 4.

Summit County:
--Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Nims at the pond behind the new
Angler Ranch development off of Bald Eagle Drive in Silverthorne on February
25.  On March 1, Nims reported 30 Barrow's Goldeneyes on the pond.
--1-2 Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches were reported by Nims on the Mesa Cortina
Trail in the Wildernest area of Silverthorne on March 1.

Weld County:
--2 Lapland Longspurs were reported by Lefko on CR 63 on March 1.
--5 Trumpeter Swans were reported by Dixon on Baxter Lake on March 2.  On
March 3, Deininger reported 6 Trumpeter Swans at Baxter Lake.   The
afternoon of March 4, Deininger reported 5 Trumpeter Swans at Baxter Lake.
On March 5, Wild reported 6 Tundra (5 ad, 1 juv) on Baxter Lake.
Baxter is just east of County Line Road and north of WCR 40.

The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, March 7 will be to Allenspark and Estes
Park led by Mike Serruto (303-377-9870).  Meet the leader at 0830 at the
park 'n Ride at 120th Ave and Huron Street:  from I-25 exit west at exit 223
and proceed to Huron.  Carpools will be formed there. Call Mike in advance
to register.  Bring lunch, water, warm clothing and adequate footwear and a
radio if you have one.

The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, March 8 will be to Bonny Lake State Park led
by Mark Peterson (719-573-6190) or [email protected].  Notify Leader to
register for this trip.  For carpool information from Denver contact
Meredith Anderson at (303-280-8576).  Meet Mark at Foster's Grove Campground
at 0800.  Full day trip; bring lunch, plenty of water, snacks and sturdy
hikers.  Scopes and a radio might be helpful.  State Parks pass required and
Wildlife habitat stamp.  NOTE:  Daylight Savings Time begins at 2 am on
Sunday, March 8.
