Hi cobirders. I went to Chatfield today Saturday from 10:30AM to 1PM Nice mostly clear and calm until 1PM when I left. Lots of groups of Canada Geese but there were 6 pairs off by themselves thinking about nesting already in different areas. 8 Magpies, only 2 Juncos not ided to type, and 6 Robins each pairing up in a few places. About 40 Ring-billed Gulls with 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull amongst them. Common Goldeneye 1st year male with a black bill looks like the females somewhat. Pair of Hooded Mergansers had one small lake to themselves. The male bobbed up and down and the female raised her hair on her head and followed along behind. Only saw one hawk. A 1st year light Red-tail (isn't red yet!) Hawk high in a tree looking over the Prairie dog town. Interesting observations but nothing unusual. Better birding after the next storm.
