Cobirders - There were thousands of Sandhill Cranes (4000 - 5000?) at the
Monte Vista NWR when I was there earlier this week. But, since it was just
after the Crane Festival there were also more people than I have ever seen
there, especially during the week. And there were hundreds of Red-winged
Blackbirds, large flocks, also more than I have ever seen there.

There are also lots of (not-bird) just-born baby calves; little lumps of
color out on the green fields -- spring in the San Luis Valley!
