For the second time in the past few days, a light rust colored African Collared Dove appeared in my back yard today )photo attached). The bird is larger than a Mourning Dove and smaller than the Eurasian Collared Doves that have become regulars at our feeders. The primary tips are pale and the under tail coverts white as in the African Collared-Dove. The collar, though present, is less defined than in the ECDO or more typical African Collared-Doves. I presume the bird is an escaped cage bird.
Also a presumed escapee or released bird is a Chukar that my neighbors have been reporting yesterday and today.
