Dear Cobirders,
This afternoon (3/29) Knut Waagan and I birded a snowy and muddy
Walden Ponds. As soon as we arrived, Knut plopped his scope down and
immediately spotted the adult Mew Gull in Cottonwoods Marsh. The
Gulling was decent by Walden standards with Ring-billed Gulls,
California Gulls, one Franklin's Gull and of course, the Mew Gull.
Other notable birds included the male Cinnamon x Blue-winged Teal on
Duck Pond, less hybrid looking Blue-winged and Cinnamon Teals and two
Greater Yellowlegs. The Killdeer have also return to full strength
with too many to count scattered throughout Walden and Sawhill. The
Mew Gull was present around noon but we could not find it again before
we left at around 2 PM --- I'm sure it's still around though.

Cheers,
Walter Szeliga
