We have a pair of wood ducks on our pond, also. The female was seen flying
around the wood duck house yesterday.
I must say that I would be more excited if wood duck families hadn't
abandoned babies each of the last 2 years they've been here. They stay
together
for a couple of weeks and then the mother and most of the ducklings
disappear, leaving 2 ducklings to fend for themselves. There's nothing like
hearing
them call for the mom for hours on end as they circle around the pond. One has
survived each year. I know, I know, it's nature's way.
    Deb Carstensen, Littleton.
