To those who are interested in bird behavior and conservation efforts: I found that the researcher, Dr. Gail Patricelli, has a whole utube site for her labs videos of Greater Sage-Grouse. If you enjoyed the video for which I sent the link last night, you will find more excellent videos of Greater Sage-Grouse and a few of Satin Bowerbirds (I think from Africa or Australia) at this link: http://www.youtube.com/user/patricellilab
For those interested, Black Phoebes have been showing up for the past 2 weeks in the Canon City area (though I believe they spend the winter nearby in a restricted area). I had 2 come to my friend's property--at least one was still in juvenal plumage so likely one of those born and raised there last summer. I have seen one Black Phoebe for a little over a week at the MacKenzie Ave bridge over the Arkansas River--this is a public location where they are sometimes found. I haven't seen any along the Canon City Riverwalk, but this is the time of year when they are moving around looking for breeding locations so they may show up there anytime. Also had several small flocks of Sandhill Cranes stopping over in farm fields in the Canon City area.
