Hi Birders, A Northern Parula was observed today at Pella Crossing OS near Hygiene. It was in a mixed flock of Myrtle Yellow-rumped Warbs and Black-capped Chickadees in the western unit in the loop back near St. Vrain Creek. This individual's upper parts seemed more gray than blue and I only saw a smudge of black on the chest, no chestnut (female?).
Another nice group of consisting of Vesper Sparrows, Chipping Sparrows, and BC Chickadees was seen nearer Hygiene road in more open country. Today's sightings bring to mind the tenth commandment of birding; Let the Chickadees be your guide!
