Best bird today was the male BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER at a private residence 
in Lafayette (see Rare Bird Alert for specific location). I'll post photos 
later. Other recent birds: 

My neighborhood, 1/2 way between Boulder & Lyons: 
Fox Sparrow, seen and photographed on 24 April along the road to my house. 
Lowest altitude (5,700 feet0 that I've ever seen one in Boulder county. 
Broad-tailed Hummingbird, a male showed up on 4/24 within about an hour of our 
putting out a five-foot tall trumpet vine loaded with flowers. He's back again 
today. 
Other birds in the neighborhood include 3 Great Horned Owl chicks, a pair of 
Western Bluebirds that have been interested in a nest box for several days, a 
pair of American Kestrels that have been hanging out my house and nest box for 
many days, but may not be actually nesting yet. Several Cassin's Finches have 
been at my feeders for several days.

Boulder Reservoir: 
Pied-billed Grebe, 1 
Western Grebe, 4 
Clark's Grebe, 1. A pretty uncommon bird in Boulder County even though they're 
common at Union Reservoir (Weld) just to the east of the county line. 
American White Pelican, 1 
White-faced Ibis, 3 
Green-winged Teal, 2 
Blue-winged Teal, 2 
Ruddy Duck, 5 
Osprey, 3 (I had 7 on 4/22 ) 
Northern Harrier, 1 female on 4/24 
American Coot, 200 
Peeps, 2 
American Avocet, 21 
Willet, 1 
Marbled Godwit, 4 
Long-billed Dowitcher, 3 
Chipping Sparrow, 8 
Franklin's Gull, 55 
Bonaparte's Gull, 1 

Thomas Reservoir: 
Bald Eagle, 2 subadults 

Walden Ponds: 
American White Pelican, 28 at Wally Toev's Pond 
Yellow-rumped Warbler, 1 Myrtle singing near the parking lot.
