Hi Cobirders,

In addition to the posts the last two days at Latham, this morning Wayne and
Dianna Johnston, my wife Roni and myself saw the Dunlin on the north side of
CR42, along with Avocets, Stilts, and Long-billed Dowitchers. On the south side
of 42 behind those ponds were Burrowing Owls. Burrowing Owls were also seen on
the east side of CR45.

Later when we arrived at CR48, other birders had seen the Dunlin on 48. On CR
48, lots of displaying Great-Tailed Grackles, 10+ Marsh Wrens popping up, and
two
American Bitterns in flight. The second Bittern flew to south side of 48 and
landed at the edge of a pond, where the Bittern let us watch it in the open for
about 5 minutes.
A second pass on 48 produced W. Phalaropes.

Also on CR 48, we watched a Peregrine Falcon, I thought there were 2 birds, as
the second bird seemed much darker in color. We watched the "second" Peregrine
drop onto a N. Shoveler, and after struggling to gain control, the Peregrine
flew off without the Shoveler. About 45 minutes later while scoping trees on
south sides of 48, we
saw the Peregrine sitting in a tree with a full crop.

Also on 48... A Loggerhead Shrike.

And on south side of CR 46, just east of CR 45, a lone American Pipet.

A wonderful morning at Latham, as usual.
