Nothing unusual at the feeders this am, except for the small flock of Chipping
Sparrows that flew in for a few minutes. No sign of the Hooded Warbler today.

A pair of Broad Winged hawks are circling the fields to the south of me and
over old town Mead. One of them apparently has stirred up a couple of small
birds (too high up to identify them) which are harassing it by dive bombing and
pecking at it. It takes a hit, sorts itself and moves on, only to get hit
again. Was a lot more fun for me to watch than I'm sure for the hawk. LOL!

I also have seen Red-tailed hawks in the same area this am. Haven't seen our
resident Ferruginous hawks recently. They used to nest in one of our ancient
cottonwood trees along the east side of our property line, but were chased out
by the Great Horned Owls a few years ago. They moved their nest about a quarter
of a mile east of us.

They are filling Highland Lake so fewer shore type birds right now. Great Blue
Herons are here and of course the Canada Geese. Mud Hens ( ? ) as we locals
call them are here (not sure what they really are. They site very low in the
water and dive below the surface sometimes coming up 50 - 100 feet away from
where they dove). They usually show up for several weeks this time of year.

I badly twisted my knee a few days ago trying to photograph a pair of Bald
Eagles fishing off the west shore of the lake, and can't walk well yet, so
can't get out over to the lake to see what all is there at the moment.
