After seeing Eric Z.'s post about the Black & White Warbler,I headed over to Nissen R. I was instantly rewarded by great views of the Black & White Warbler, meticulously going over every twig and limb for bugs in a large cottonwood. It was with a flock of Yellow-rumped Warblers and a couple of Orange-crowned Warblers. Then, it went to another cottonwood along the eastern shore of the lake and was joined by at last two dozen sparrows, including Chipping, White-crowned and one Brewer's. Eric arrived and we looked for more birds on the north side of the lake and found a couple of chipping Empidonax flycatchers. Both were actively flycatching and flicking their tails. Both were quite gray; neither called, so I hesitate to venture a guess as to species.
This lake is a great place to bird!
