Cobirders: I made a check of Bebee Draws 40, 42, 46/54, and Latham around noon Sunday. The earlier numerous birders were gone and most the shorebirds were too, but reports of Ruddy Turnstone and other rarities lingered. Moving on to Latham, at the smaller temporary pond between the very large pond and the bridge, in the scope I saw a Gotwit that had a light gray head [dark cap] and breast and whitish belly, no color; most likely a Hudsonian Gotwit. Suddenly it took off with a single note and flew to Latham reservoir. Bought a slice of pizza in Kersey and headed to Crow Valley where I met up with Gary Lefko and saw some of the birds he reported. A slow drive through Murphy's Pasture and on to the CR-51/Highway 14 corner where with diligent search with the scope, I looked at the back of a preening Mountain Plover who eventually turned around for good side and front views. By 5:30 PM, I returned to 46/45 pond next to 45, very crowed with many species of shore birds [see Cheryl Teuton report] in super good light and finally found the Ruddy Turnstone. Steve Mensies [bad spelling] showed up and reported seeing a Whimbrel at Bebee 42. I hurried down there and got a very quick look at a Whimbrel as it took off. Near the end of a special day that began at the wetland near the model airport in Cherry Creek at 11 AM. Nothing new. Peaceful birding, Warren Finch Lakewood **************2009 3 Free CREDIT SCORES: See Your 3 Credit Scores from All 3 Bureaus FREE!
