Baca County:
--At Two Buttes the Kellner caravan had 2 Yellow-throated Vireos , a pair of
Northern Parula, 1 White-throated Sparrow, and 2 male Black-and-white
Warblers on May 2.
On May 3, the Kellner caravan had a female Northern Parula, Northern
Waterthrush,
and Swamp Sparrow.
--At Burchfield SWA the Kellner caravan reported a Hooded Warbler and
Black-and-white Warbler on May 2.
--A Harris's Sparrow was reported by the Kellner caravan at Turk's Pond on
May 2.
Bent County:
--A Black-and-white Warbler was reported by Percival at Hasty Campground on
April 27 and seen again on May 1 by Percival. Percival also reported a
female Summer Tanager at Hasty Campground on May 1.
--An Indigo Bunting was reported by Jones at Hasty Campground on May 1.
--At Fort Lyon the Kellner Caravan reported a Nashville Warbler, Hooded
Warbler and Rose-breasted Grosbeak on May 2.
--On May 1 south and opposite Fort Lyons Woods, Jones reported
Black-and-white Warbler, Green Heron, and Field Sparrows.
--Black-and-white Warblers were reported by Jones in the SE corner of the
interesection of CR JJ and 16 on May 1.
--At Tempel Grove which is private, but owners have given permission to
bird. See Duane Nelson's post for rules and directions.
----On May 1, the Kellner caravan reported 2 male Hooded Warblers,
Worm-eating Warbler, and WOOD THRUSH.
----On May 2, Jones reported WOOD THRUSH and Tennessee Warbler.
Boulder County:
--A Green Heron was reported at Walden Ponds in Boulder by Zmolek on April
28. On May 1, a Green Heron was seen on the west end of Ricky Weiser
Wetland by Tumasonis.
--A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Floyd at Prince Lake #2 on May 1. At least
2 GLOSSY IBIS were reported by Smart at Prince Lake #2 on May 2.
--A Black-and-white Warbler was reported by Floyd at Greenlee Preserve in
Lafayette on May 1.
--1 - 2 Blackpoll Warblers were reported by Szeliga at Twin Lakes in
Gunbarrel on May 1.
--A Black-throated Gray-Warbler was reported by Tumasonis at Doudy Draw on
May 2.
--A Field Sparrow was reported by Gent at Doudy Draw on May 3.
--A Green Heron was reported by Such in Lyons at a pond south of the
intersection of Hwy 36 & McConnell Drive on May 2.
--The Boulder Bird Club reported the following at Walden/Sawhill Ponds on
May 3: Broad-winged Hawk, 2-3 Green Herons, Black-and-white Warbler.
--A molting male Indigo Bunting was reported by Szeliga west of Pond #12 at
Sawhill on May 4.
Broomfield County:
--A Black-and-white Warbler was reported by Zorawowicz at Nissen Reservoir
#2 on May 1. Nissen #2 is on Aspen, .5 mile south of 136th Ave.
--A Green Heron was reported by Zorawowicz on the north side of Plaster
Reservoir on May 4.
Douglas/Jefferson Counties:
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Kondler NE of the Wildlife Viewing
Area Deck at Chatfield on May 2.
El Paso County:
--A female Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Pals at Fountain Creek Regional
Park on May 2.
El Paso/Pueblo Counties:
--At Chico Basin Ranch (fee):
----A male Indigo Bunting was banded by Gobris on April 29 and recaught on
May 2.
----A male Hooded Warbler was banded by Gobris on May 1 and recaptured on
May 4.
----A male KENTUCKY WARBLER was reported by Maynard at headquarters pond on
May 1.
----On May 2, Brown reported Winter Wren, Black-and-white Warbler, and
Hooded Warbler at the ranch.
----On May 4, Brown reported Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Indigo Bunting.
Jefferson County:
--On May 2 at Waterton, Kingery reported a LEAST BITTERN;
Black-throated Sparrow banded by McBurney at the banding station; Floyd
reported a Broad-winged Hawk.
--A pair of Broad-winged Hawks was reported by Chavez at Welchester Tree
Park on May 3.
Kiowa County:
--A Field Sparrow was reported by Percival at the Neenoshe Locust Grove on
April 30 and 2 were seen on May 1 by Percival.
Lake County:
--A Caspian Tern was reported by Kalbach at the west end of Twin Lakes on
May 3.
Larimer County:
--A pair of Caspian Terns was reported by DeFonso at Wellington Gravel Pits
on Kechter Road in SE Fort Collins on May 1.
--A male Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by DeFonso at Dixon
Reservoir on May 2 and was seen again on May 3 by Matheson.
Morgan County:
--A Piping Plover was reported by Deininger at Jackson Lake SP at the west
boat ramp on May 2. Kaempfer reported Field Sparrow and Harris's Sparrow at
Jackson on May 2.
Montezuma County:
A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Arnold at McElmo Creek at Battle Rock
Farm on May 2 and on May 4 the sparrow was heard singing by Arnold.
Prowers County:
--A PINE WARBLER and Black-and-white Warbler were reported by Percival at
Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar on April 30 and again on May 1. The Keller
Caravan reported the PINE WARBLER, Black-and-white Warbler, and White-eyed
Vireo at the cemetery on May 3.
--At Lamar Community College Woods (LCCW):
----Percival reported a BLUE-HEADED Vireo on April 30 and two on May 1. A
BLUE-HEADED VIREO was seen by the Kellner caravan on May 2.
----Percival reported a pair of Northern Cardinals on May 1.
----The Kellner caravan reported a Nashville Warbler, Hooded Warbler,
Black-and-white Warbler, and Swamp Sparrow on May 1.
----The Kellner caravan reported a Yellow-throated Vireo, Hooded Warbler,
and a Northern Waterthrush on May 2.
--At Rocking 7K Ogle reported the following on May 2 BLUE-HEADED VIREO,
Black-and-white Warbler, Worm-eating Warbler, Tennessee Warbler, Northern
Parula. Rocking 7K is open to birders (fee) if the owners are home.

Washington County:
--At Last Chance:
----On May 1, the Kellner caravan found male Hooded Warbler, White-throated
Sparrow, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Blackpoll Warbler and Black-and-white
Warbler.
----On May 2, Friedberg found a pair of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, 3
White-throated Sparrows, Hooded Warbler, and Northern Waterthrush.
----On May 2, Coley reported a Swamp Sparrow and Breitsch saw it on May 3.
--A female Northern Parula was reported by the Kellner Caravan at the Akron
Golf Course park on May 3.
Weld County:
--A GLOSSY IBIS and Dunlin were reported by Hooper near the intersection of
CR 45 & 46 on May 1. The Dunlin was see again by Hooper on May 4.
--A Dunlin was reported by Gent in the Beebe Draw area on a pond north of CR
40.
--A Ruddy Turnstone was reported by Teuton in the SE corner of the
intersection of CR 45 and 46 on May 3.

on access road to entrance station at Barr Lake SP. Does not involve much
walking.

West entrance to park. State Parks Pass required
Waterton, downstream. 4-5 mile hike. Wear long pants due to unfriendly
vegetation. Leader - Hugh Kingery, 303-814-2723. Meet at 0600 at Audubon
Center Discovery Pavilion.
Barr Lake SP: Leader - Charlie Chase 720-690-4341 or
[email protected]. Call leader if you plan to go. Meet at 0600 at
RMBO. State Parks Pass required. Ten mile, all-day hike.
Sunday, May 10
Lower Bear Creek: Leader - Mike Henwood 720-570-5070. Meet at 0600 at
parking lot on Morrison Road at C-470, northwest corner, next to Conoco
Station.
Castlewood Canyon SP: Leader - Randy Lentz, 303-680-3381. Meet at 0630
at old entrance. State Parks Pass Required.
Rocky Mountain Arsenal: Leader Urling Kingery, 303-814-2723. Must
register with leader in advance.
Monday, May 11
Cherry Creek SP: Leader - Allison Hilf, 303-888-5110. Meet at 0630 at
the Marina on west side. State Parks Pass Required.
