COBirders,

As we were sitting in our backyard a while ago, my wife called my attention
to a pair of Mississippi Kites floating around in the sky, our first of the
year in Pueblo (or anywhere else). Also, a little earlier, a female
Red-winged Blackbird appeared in the backyard and I got all excited because
I thought it was a new yard bird. After checking my sighting records I see
that once before, on April 18, 1992, there were two red-wings here at a
feeder. We have lived at this suburban address for almost 40 years with
just two red-wing sightings. This is a lesson for you younger birders about
the value of having kept records before-and after-you get old and your
memory resembles Swiss cheese.
