Greetings -

This morning I got an early start and headed up to Crow Valley CG.
The campground was teeming with migrant birds, undoubtedly shoved out
of the sky by the rains to the north last evening in combination with
the strong north winds later last night. The strong winds kept the
birds closer to the ground allowing for better viewing overall.

Most notable birds:

Veery - 1, south of the picnic area
Hooded Warbler - 1 female, south of the picnic area
American Redstart - 1 female in SW corner
Common Poorwill - at least one, possibly two, moving about
Gray Flycatcher - 1 near education center
Long-eared Owls - 2, very cooperative

Birds noted in the dozens:

Spotted Towhee - perhaps more common than the White-crowned Sparrows,
easily 100 in the CG
Green-tailed Towhee - often saw two or three at once
Blue-gray gnatcatcher - frequently could see five at once
Lincoln's and Chipping Sparrows - many many many
Orange-crowned Warbler - scads
Yellow-rumped Warbler - mostly Audubon's
House Wren - everywhere I looked
Empids - largly silent

Good birding,

Kathy Mihm Dunning
