Baca County:
--A first spring male Summer Tanager was reported by Shade about 1.3 miles
west of the entrance to Cottonwood Canyon Campground on CR M on May 6.
Bent County:
--2 alternate plumaged Ruddy Turnstones were reported by Nelson on the south
side of Adobe Creek Reservoir on May 7. Directions: Take CR 10 to CR UU.
Go west to spillway to dam, head north from gates.
--A White-eyed Vireo was reported by Nelson at Green Heron Slough on May 8.
--A male Summer Tanager was reported by Nelson at Van's Grove on May 8.
--At Hasty Campground, Nelson reported a male Black-throated Blue Warbler
and Ovenbird on May 8.
Boulder County:
--3 Green Herons were reported by Zorawowicz at Walden/Sawhill Ponds on May
5. One Green Heron was reported by Marcoux at Walden/Sawhill Ponds on May
8.
--A Rose-breasted Grosbeak was reported by Kaempfer on the CU campus in
Boulder near Norlin Library on May 7.
--A Worm-eating Warbler was reported by Szeliga at Twin Lakes in Gunbarrel
on May 7.
--A female Hooded Warbler was reported by Szeliga at Twin Lakes on May 8.
--A Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Szeliga west of Sawhill #12 on May 8.
--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Mark Miller on CO66 between Hygiene
and Lyons on May 9.
--A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Waltman at Sale Lake in Boulder on
May 9.
--2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks were found by Hansley at Walden Ponds on May
9.
--A molting Summer Tanager was reported by Gent at the Twin Lakes parking
area in Boulder on May 9.
--A Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by Szeliga at Twin Lakes on May
9.
--A male Black-and-white Warbler and male Rose-breasted Grosbeak were
reported by Larson along Boulder Creek east of 55th St in Boulder on May 9.
--A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Waagan at Sawhill Ponds in Boulder
on May 9.
Denver County:
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Wiersma near the Platte River Bike
Path on May 8. It was just west of the parking lot at W Forida Ave and the
Platte. This is near Overland Golf Course.
El Paso County:
--An adult male Tennessee Warbler and male Rose-breasted Grosbeak were
reported by Lewantowicz at Sonderman Park in Colorado Springs on May 9.
--A female Summer Tanager was found by Luck at Fountain Creek Regional Park
on May 9.
--On the Fountain Creek Regional Park Spring Count on May 9, Pals reported
the following: 2 Magnolia Warblers, 1 Black-and-white Warbler, 1 Northern
Waterthrush, 1 SCARLET TANAGER, 1 Rose-breasted Grosbeak, 2 Indigo Buntings.
El Paso/Pueblo Counties:
--At Chico Basin Ranch (fee):
----On May 6, Gobris banded a Western Palm Warbler and Harris's Sparrow.
----On May 7, Gobris banded a BLUE-HEADED VIREO and saw a possible Northern
Waterthrush.
----On May 8, Gobris banded a Rose-breasted Grosbeak and 30 Swainson's
Thrushes.
----On May 8, on the Pueblo side Maynard reported Magnolia Warbler,
Black-throated Blue Warbler, and Northern Waterthrush.
----On May 8, Percival reported a Hooded Warbler on the Pueblo side.
----On May 9, Gobris banded an Ovenbird and Brown reported Broad-winged Hawk
and Tennessee Warbler on the El Paso side.
----On May 9, Schaum reported 3 female Blackpoll Warblers on the El Paso
side.
----On May 9, Percival reported the following on the Pueblo side: 2 male
Magnolia Warblers, 2 male Black-throated Blue Warblers, 1 male
Black-throated Gray Warbler, 1 male Blackpoll, 1 Ovenbird, 3 Northern
Waterthrush, 1 male Hooded Warbler and 1 White-throated Sparrow.
Jefferson County:
--Chavez found a Prothonotary Warbler at Belmar Park in Lakewood the morning
of May 7. It was seen by many birders on May 7.
--A Hooded Warbler was banded by McBurney at the banding station at
Chatfield on May 9.
La Plata County:
--A Snowy Plover was reported by Beatty at Pastorius SWA on May 9.
Larimer County:
--A Grace's Warbler was found by Chase at the Matthews-Reeser Sanctuary of
Lake Estes on May 5. The warbler was seen again by Hopper on May 7.
--A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Sparks at Lee Martinez Park in Fort
Collins on May 8.
--On May 8 Leatherman reported a Green Heron and Broad-winged Hawk along the
Poudre River south of Prospect in Fort Collins and 1 male Black-throated
Green Warbler and 1 Palm Warbler along the Poudre north of Prospect.
--A Rose-breasted Grosbeak was reported by Keirn at Lee Martinez Park in
Fort Collins on May 9.
--A male Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by Leatherman at the
Environmental Learning Center in Fort Collins on May 9.
--A Tennessee Warbler and Black-and-white Warbler were reported by Sparks in
the McMurry Natural Area of Fort Collins on May 9. To get to the parking
area go north on College Ave to Hemlock St.
Mesa County:
--A Rose-breasted Grosbeak was reported by Robinsong in Gateway on May 6.
--A LUCY'S WARBLER was reported by Cooper in Rabbit Valley on May 8. For
directions see Jacob Cooper's post on CoBirds.
Morgan County:
--A male Blackpoll Warbler was reported by Jones at Brush SWA on May 9.
Prowers County:
At Lamar Community College woods:
----A Golden-winged Warbler was reported by Shade on May 6.
----On May 7, Percival reported White-winged Dove, Yellow-throated Vireo,
Golden-winged Warbler, 1st spring female Chestnut-sided Warbler, and 3
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks.
Routt County:
A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Floyd at TNC Carpenter Ranch Nature Trail
on May 9.
Washington County:
--2 Northern Waterthrush were reported by Lawrence at Last Chance on May 9.
Weld County:
--A GLOSSY IBIS and Dunlin were reported by Hooper near the intersection of
CR 45 & 46 on May 1. The Dunlin was refound by Kilpatrick on May 6.
--A BLUE-HEADED VIREO was reported by Kilpatrick at Crow Valley Campground
on May 6.
--A Caspian Tern was reported by Lefko at 35th Ave Gravel Ponds in Greeley
on May 9.
--A Northern Waterthrush was reported by Lefko on the Poudre Trail in
Greeley on May 9.
--2 GLOSSY IBIS were reported by Jones at Loloff Reservoir on CR 57 on May
9.
