We had 110 species with 7839 individuals (a conservative number). In 2008 we had 89 species with 1589 individuals. This year's count numbers were swelled by the 5000+ swallows, but even so our numbers were an increase of 1200+ over last year's. Highlights included: Common Loon 2 Marston Reservoir (MR) Clark's Grebe 1 Bear Creek Lake Park (BCLP) Horned Grebe 3 MR Eared Grebe 21 MR Snowy Egret 5 MR Black-crowned Night Heron 6 MR and Bear Creek Greenbelt (BCGB) White-faced Ibis 50 BCLP & MR Virginia Rail 3 MR Sora 4 BCLP & MR Semipalmated Plover 3 MR Willet 33 MR Marbled Godwit 14 MR Long-billed Dowitcher 9 BCLP and MR Wilson's Phalarope 20 BCLP and MR Franklin's Gull 44 BCLP and MR Bonaparte's Gull 11 MR Forster's Tern 9 MR Great Horned Owl 11 BCLP, BCGB, MR Lewis's Woodpecker 1 BCGB Hammond's Flycatcher 1 BCGB Gray Flycatcher 1 BCGB Eastern Kingbird 4 MR Warbling Vireo 3 BCGB Swainson's Thrush 24 BCLP, BCGB Veery 1 BCLP Sage Thrasher 1 BCGB Northe rn Waterthrush 3 BCLP Common Yellowthroat 2 BCLP Large numbers of Swallows (1,000's) with all species except Purple Martin. Large flocks of sparrows with a good variety - Green-tailed Towhee (3), Brewer's, Chipping, Clay-colored (17), Lark, Lincoln, Savannah (12), White-crowned. We estimated 140 Yellow-rumped Warblers with a 60/40 ratio of Audubon to Myrtle.
