Hi COBirders,

Today started very cool (35o), calm, and busy. We collected 20+ birds
at 6:30, and about the same for the rest of the day. Total of 44 new
birds banded, by Brian Gibbons, Josh Shramo, and Steve Brown.
Another good day.

There was a good turnover of birds last night, a good number of
Swainson's Thrush in the grove today, and our first Hermit Thrush in a
week. Again, some good warblers, but not high numbers. Also - a
sight to see, is Brian's "double-high net" in which we collected W
Kingbirds and Black-headed Grosbeak about 16 feet off the ground.

Not seen - No sparrows banded, few seen. No Orange-crowned Warblers,
nor Yellow Warblers, but a couple of Yellow-rumps were in the trees
overhead. The hummingbirds are around, and aggressive. Many birds,
once released, were chased out of the area by the hummers! W Wood
Pewee and Ash-throated Flycatcher were heard.

The talented Eur Starling is now doing Canada Goose calls above the
banding station, along with the rest of his playlist.
