Co birders :
 
      The Birding and Heritage birding tour around  Bent's Old Fort , Otero 
County this morning had several interesting  migrants including Baltimore 
Oriole ( male ) , American Redstart ( f ) ,  Rose-breasted Grosbeak ( f ) , 
Western Tanager ( pair ) and possible  breeders , Indigo Bunting , 
Yellow-billed Cuckoo and Great crested Flycatcher .  The latter two both breed 
in 
2006. 
 
 Lake Cheraw , Otero , held Long-billed Curlew ( 6 ) , White-rumped  
Sandpipers ( 8 ) , Dowithchers ( 8 ) , Red-necked Phalarope ( 1 ) amongst  100 
+ 
Wilson's phalarope , and the usual Snowy Plovers ( 10 + ) ,  Stilts and 
Avocets. Black Terns arrived today. 
 
 In the afternoon the group visited with  Duane  Nelson ,who described the 
protection actions at John Martin Res , Bent  County for the Piping Plover 
and Least Tern before showing us a Piping  Plover on the beach and a single 
Least Tern flyby which by the end of the  visit had increased to a flyby of 4 
Least terns. These arrived today  too . Black Tern numbers were in the 100 
's . and a Peregrine Falcon put in  a brief visit to the Reservoir.
