This morning, I awake to a mess outside my sunroom window. The squirrels had somehow managed to pull the feeder down and had emptied all its contents on ground below where the feeder had hung. I fixed the broken wire, rehung the feeder but left the seed on the ground.
At noon, I glanced out the window to see a pair of what I think are Lazuli Buntings. I have a couple pictures up on my blog. Would appreciate someone taking a look and letting me know if I am correct. The white wing bars are not that apparent in the photos, but were obvious, just didn't get a good picture of them. Breast on the male is red, belly white. The male's blue is intense indigo in color. The female breast was a cinnamon/yellowish color, unstreaked. If these are indeed Lazuli Buntings, they will be the first I have ever seen on my property or in the Highlandlake area.
