Hello, Birders.

Just a quick update from Day 1 in the San Luis Valley.

Red-eyed Vireo, Northern Parula, Worm-eating Warbler, Rose-breasted Grosbeak,
and Scott's Oriole.

I was on the Medano-Zapata Ranch trip earlier today. Highlights: 2 Northern
Parulas, 1 Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and 1 Least Flycatcher; 4 Evening Grosbeaks
and 1 Blue Grosbeak; Sage Sparrows and Sage Thrashers out in the
greasewood/rabbitbrush scrub; a Peregrine Falcon working a flock of swallows
and Black Terns; a high-flying flock of Franklin's Gulls; lots of empids,
including Gray Flycatcher; 1 singing Olive-sided Flycatcher; and 1
Black-chinned Hummingbird around the ranch buildings. Also: a thundering herd
of bison; elk; porcupine; and magnificent scenery (rainy and cool here).

Tomorrow awaits!
