Hi COBirders,

Brian Gibbons opened nets this morning for a while before we
dismantled the station for the season. Between 6:30 and noon we banded
52 new birds, so, as Bill M stated, a shift in the winds brought in a
lot of new birds. Surprisingly we had several FOS's. More waves of
Swainson's and Hermit Thrush, and Lincoln's Sparrows, and a few
warblers.

Banding highlights today (banding by Brian Gibbons, Rocky Mountain
Bird Observatory, and Steve Brown volunteer)

FOS Lesser Goldfinch
FOS Eastern Kingbird
FOS Alder Flycatcher
Willow Flycatcher
Dusky Flycatcher
W Wood-Pewee
American Redstart (ASY, f)
MacGillivray's Warbler
Com Yellowthroat (m)
Wilson's Warbler
Lincoln's Sparrow
White-crowned Sparrow (Mountain)
Chipping Sparrow
Lincoln's Sparrow (8)
Gray Catbird
Hermit Thrush
Swainson's Thrush
Veery
Blue Grosbeak (m,f)
W Tanager (f)
Orchard Oriole (f)
Bullock's Oriole (m, f)

THEN we went to HQ/Rose's Pond and found Bill's male Blackburnian
Warbler about 12:15. Wow! What a gorgeous specimen! Was in the same
cottonwood that he had described a couple of hours before. Also a
female Blackpoll Warbler at Rose's Pond, and lots of Yellow Warblers.
All-in-all a good finish to a successful season.

Perhaps more banding reports will follow in August. Thank you for the
favorable responses to these posts.
