Currently, it appears that there are about 8 Red-Necked Grebes swimming about
on Highland Lake, near Mead, Weld, CO. One of the visitors to our annual
Memorial Day, live steam train meet, spent the morning boating on the lake
(wakeless boating only allowed) and took several pictures of them. When he came
to ride the trains, he showed me the pictures. Their markings were very clear
in the photos. I should of asked him if I could download them from his camera
to my computer, but didn't think of it, as I was just too busy (we had about 60
people here at the time)..

I went across the road to the lake about a half hour ago and was able to see
them near the middle of the lake. The red on their necks is very obvious. They
were too far out of range for my camera. If I can get a good shot of them I
will share. A good zoom lens for my Cannon Rebel is on my Birthday/Christmas
and Anniversary wish list.

The double crested Cormorants are still here, as well as a few Western Grebes.
Not as many Canada Geese as usual, but a fair amount of American Pelicans.

The pair of Lazuli Buntings are still showing up at my feeder several times a
day, although now, they rarely come together.

Highland Lake is located in the historic community of Highlandlake, near Mead
on Weld County Road 5 between Weld County Rd 34 3/4 and WCR 36.
