Went out to take pictures of the sunset over Highland Lake and what comes swimming up to me and stops about 30 feet away, was one of the illusive Grebes. The good news is that he stuck around long enough to get a few shots of him and to watch his behavior. The downside is that I don't have a good zoom lens and it was sunset, so the light was behind him putting him in silhouette. I was able to clearly see the very red breast with color running partway up into his neck. Sadly, this doesn't show up as well in the photo, but you can see it, even if the image is a blur. http://tinyurl.com/pfj2qd<http://tinyurl.com/pfj2qd> Unlike yesterday when there were at least eight of them, this one was alone.
Any ideas anyone? By the way, there is a larger, sunset picture in my "Sunset Over Highlandlake" Photo album, if you care to look. http://tinyurl.com/ouhtze<http://tinyurl.com/ouhtze> Pauli Smith Highlandlake, near Mead, Weld, CO --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Join us at the 2009 Convention in Alamosa: http://cfo-link.org/convention/index.php You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
